I lost everything. My home. My career. My freedom. The people I thought I could count on. I hit a rock bottom so complete that I couldn't see a way out, and while I was down there, the people I loved most were up above, holding the world together with shaking hands and a faith they weren't sure was working anymore.

My wife kept the lights on. My kids had to explain to their friends why Dad wasn't home. My daughter had to sleep at a friend's house just to stay in the school she'd already started. My son had to start college carrying a secret he never should have had to carry alone.

I've written about faith. I've written about getting back up. But this book isn't about me.
